Passports

June 22nd, 2005

Well I have finally gotten a passport for myself and for my daughter. I don’t know why I waited so long. It was really simple to obtain. Jason(my husband) went online and downloaded the applications so we could fill them out at home. Then we used our own digital camera to take the passport photos. Otherwise it costs about $8.00 per person to have them taken at Walgreens. Then we went to our local post office with our birth certificates and pictures and we were done in about 10 minutes. Since my daughter is only 4 both my husband and myself had to be present to sign for her passport. It was that easy.

Now I have everything I need to offically recieve my Dutch Citizenship. Once the Dutch consulate reviews all of my documentation I will be recieving my Dutch passport. My husband however will not recieve Dutch Nationality. This would only apply to myself and our children. One of my brothers (Robert) already has his passport and citizenship and my other brother (Randy) will recieve his along with me. Next year I hope to make it to the Netherlands.

More passport & Apostille info

Downtown Phoenix there is an office where you can walk in and get your documents authenticated(Apostille) by the Secretary of State. It only costs $3.00 per document. Here in Arizona I had to have my daughters birth certificate and my marriage license authenticated for use in the Netherlands. I was born in Los Angeles California so I had to get the Apostille for my birth certificate and my parents marriage license done with the Secretary of State in California, Sacremento. California charges $20.00 per document.
